Bestival unveils brand new Temple arena

This year's nautical themed Bestival happening on the Isle of Wight has announced another new arena 'Temple Island' - with a full DJ line-up, immersive street-art treasure hunt with My Dog Sighs, twisted structures with Willowtwister, the doghouse and more. As well as revealing the line-ups for Bestival's fringe stages Club DaDa and Polka Tent.

Organisers explain, "New for 2013, Temple Island is a lucid dreamland of beguiling saturnalia where acts like London Grammar, DJ Falcon and Karma Kid come to play. Around them, fantasy and reality fuse in a haze of bio-sculptures and an eclectic collection of some of the tastiest foods in the country. It’s a beautiful place. But nothing is what it seems…

If it looks like a sculpture, it may really be a chilling cocoon that sings to you when you step inside. You’ll find them hidden in a sparkly part of Temple Island, away from the stage. Creatures here may be actors in disguise who lead you to a mystery trail of street art by fast-rising artist My Dog Sighs . 21 pieces are yours to keep, if you find them. The first person to complete the entire My Dog Sighs Treasure Hunt will take home a £2,500 masterpiece! Feeling inspired by all that artistry? Try your hardest to create your very own twisted structure with amazing Willowtwister artist Sara Holmes and crew.

That’s not all though, Bestival’s darkest secrets are gathered on Temple Island’s confession wall. It’s hungry for yours. Confess… if you dare. Party until the small hours in The Doghouse, the secret part of Temple Island you’ll stumble upon, find exactly what you’ve always been looking for, and never, ever, want to leave. But beauty dies fast. So, late on Sunday, Temple Island will go up in flames. Before that, there’s dancing to be done, coconuts to be drunk, gourmet banquets to be eaten and art to explore."

Opening on Thursday night there will be music from south Florida future music mogul Henry Krinkle, T.Williams, and Karma Kid. On Friday the line-up for the new arena includes DJ Falcon, Chrome Sparks, London Grammar, Shadow Child, Dark Sky, and Maribou State. On Saturday it's the turn of Cyril Hahn, Eton Messy DJs, Wilkinson, Run Riot, and Kashii. Finally Sunday will see the Eton Messy crew return as hosts for the entire day.

From the makers of Shangri Las Glastonbury and long term residents of festival fields Continental Drifts, Club DaDa's Thursday night line-up kicka off with Rob Da Bank v Tayo & Nerm, Beans on Toast, Too Many T's, The Allergies, and their own DJ Chris Tofu. Friday sees the The Dawn Of Electro Blues a night dedicated to the new sound of electro blues with Cyborgs, Heymoonshaker, DJ/VJ Nick Hollywood, The Future Shape Of Sound, and King Lagoons Flying Swordfish Dance Band. Saturday sees White Mink host their French Electro Swing Special with Shore Leave, Le KKC Orchestra, Smokey Joe and The Kid, Dutty Moonshine, Max Pashm's Electro Swing Ensemble, and DJ Dodgy Style. Sunday Club DaDa host the annual DJ Chris Tofu Closing Party with special guests Joe Driscoll & Seckou Kouyate, Old Dirty Brasstards, and more.

The Polka Tent opening night line-up includes King Lagoons Flying Swordfish Dance Band, Tankus the Henge, and DJ Kobayashi. Friday night is the Polka Party with Hallouminati, Gypsy Hill, Discount Orchestra, Gypsy Fever, Penny Metal, Karauke, Cut a Shine, and Gypsy Disco. Saturday in the Polka Tent goes from Gypsy Punk to Stomping Kleizmer with Buffo's Wake, Tantz, The Turbans, and Maniere des Bohemiens. Finally the Sunday Hoedown with City Shanty Band, Ramshackle Union Band, Katy Carr, Gorgeous George, and more.

Plus they will be hosting special surprise guests and DJs all weekend long.

Rob da Bank said, "Bestival has almost 30 stages of live music, DJs, poetry, cinema, drag acts, ultraviolet ping pong and general mayhem going off in 2013. Club Dada and the Polka Tent programmed by the insanely creative and madcap Chris Tofu is always ahead of the curve and we've been proud to host the first festival stages of gypsy punk, electro swing and many other underground genres. As ever, Señor Tofu has pulled it out the bag with his line ups for 2013.

Chris Tofu added, "Bestival is so amazing for us, it’s been the first festival in the UK with a venue dedicated to the 1000 year old festival music Polka, wall to wall, crazy Gypsy Music and Hoedown, makes this the natural festival music hangout. Club Dada has always been like a mad feast of Brass and Vintage Remix and this year’s no exception with killer Electro Blues and Electro Swing, crazy remixing Carnival bands and so much more, the perfect music for a tent where 70 years ago Marlene Dietrich performed in. Bestival stands unique with more killer and closely curetted music per square inch than anywhere else, big up to Rob and Josie and the team."

Taking place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight from Thursday 5th until Sunday 8th September 2013 the nautical themed Bestival is also headlined by Fatboy Slim, Elton John and Snoop Dogg, plus MIA, Franz Ferdinand, Flaming Lips, The Knife, Wu-Tang Clan, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Annie Mac Presents, and so many more. Plus a new arena The Port, Films in the Forest, World Music Day on the Bandstand, The Wishing Tree, Swamp Shack and The Grand Palace of Entertainment.

As well as the music, Bestival has the world's biggest fancy dress party for 50,000 festival goers. The festival also offers a vibrant mix of cocktail bars, laughter clubs, a farmers market, kids area, dancing, magical moments and more, as one of the most colourful events on the festival calendar.

Tickets for Bestival including entry from Thursday 4th September are priced at £190 for Adult Tickets and £127 for Teen (age 13-17) Tickets. For those arriving on or after Friday 5th September adult tickets are priced at £180. Tickets for children (age 12 & under) are free (but must have a ticket). A campervan ticket is priced at £90 (per vehicle), and car parking is priced at £11 advance (or £15 cash on arrival).

There's also a a 10 week payment plan which means that an adult ticket can now be bought at a payment of £19 per week (Thursday entry) or £18 per week (Friday entry) over 10 weekly payments.
